Painsley Catholic College is an outstanding 11-18 academy in the Staffordshire Moorlands. Painsley Catholic College School Direct consortium is a group of very friendly, supportive schools, passionate about creating the next generation of teachers. Painsley Catholic College became a National Teaching School in 2014 and is one of only 35 National Maths Hubs in the West Midlands.
We work in partnership with the University of Derby for secondary and KNSTE, Keele and North Staffordshire Teacher Education (school centre initial teacher training) for primary training.
As a consortium, we aim to provide high quality, school based initial teacher training. We believe our provision ensures trainees feel fully prepared for life in the classroom and a career in education. The schools work closely with the partner universities and SCITT to ensure that our Schools Direct students gain their Teaching Qualification giving them qualified teacher status (QTS) and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE). You will experience placements in 2 of our consortium schools throughout the year, as well as opportunities to visit the other schools for educational and professional studies. There may also be opportunities to visit our partner special school for short placements.
All our staff are exceptionally skilled and passionate practitioners and you are welcome to visit us to discuss your chosen career.
Part-time training places, taking 2 years, are available in some subjects - please contact LBU@painsley.staffs.sch.uk to enquire further.

Painsley TSA can also assist unqualified teachers with a minimum of 2 years classroom experience to achieve QTS status via the Assessment Only route. This is available for both primary and secondary settings.
The process takes approximately 12 weeks for you to qualify as an NQT and includes 2 formal observations and an interview. You will need to compile a folder of appropriate evidence against the Teacher Standards and there is a cost implication for your school.
