Painsley Catholic College was designated as a national Teaching School in March 2014 by the National College for Teaching and Leadership. This status recognises our strong track record of working collaboratively to support the development of other schools, as well as the outstanding practice within the school itself.
Once designated as a Teaching School, Painsley Catholic College, in partnership with its strategic partner schools, two universities, the Diocese of Birmingham and the local authority, established the Painsley Catholic College Teaching School Alliance (PTSA). Our alliance now consists of around 15 schools from Staffordshire, Stoke-on-Trent and Derbyshire, and represents primary, secondary, special, faith and non-faith schools and academies.
The vision of Teaching School Alliance (PTSA) is to develop a self-supporting system over a group of schools and other partners to ensure excellence for all pupils across the Alliance. The Alliance will work across the Big 6 areas:
- Initial Teacher Training and Support for Newly Qualified Teachers
- Continuing Professional Development
- Leadership Development and Succession Planning
- School to School Support
- Recruitment and deployment of SLEs, LLEs and NLEs
- Research and Development
