We are delighted to offer training opportunities to school governors. All courses are run on a twilight basis. They are suitable for both primary and secondary colleagues.
Summer 2016 Briefings:
Summer Programme - Please contact us for dates, times and venue.
- Session 1 - Female genital mutilation (FGM) - following the first protection order in Staffordshire in March 2016, this briefing highlights the duty of schools and is recommended for chairs and those with a link role for safeguarding. This session is recommended for both primary and secondary schools.
- Session 2 - Progress 8 - what is it and how will it appear in RAISE online from September 2016? What questions can we ask to offer challenge and support to schools? This session is for secondary colleagues and will share an example of the new progress 8 measure in a RAISE online report.
- Session 3 - Pupil Premium (PP) - suitable for all governors and directors, especially chairs. What is the PP? What is the future of PP? How can a school review help? What questions should governors be asking schools to ensure effective use of the PP and value for money? What should be published online and what makes a good statement? This session will be led by Anne Maingay, Central Supra-Regional Pupil Premium Reviewer trainer for the NCTL. Anne is a national pupil premium champion for the NCTL and has written the new PP review guide with the Teaching Schools Council, DfE and Endowment Education Fund. New guidance will be issued from DfE to schools on how they must report PP. This will be shared with schools. This briefing is also suitable for PP co-ordinators in schools as a refresher / update. Please note: Schools attending this briefing will have the briefing fee refunded if they book an external review of PP with an NCTL accredited reviewer through the Teaching School. This session is suitable for both primary and secondary settings.
